You may be asking yourself if 2016 is the year. Are you going to make the leap and buy a home this year and get out of the crazy rental market. Be done living with shared laundry, no parking, loud neighbors and paying rent!
Here are some great reasons that 2016 is your year to buy your own property!
Rents are outrageous. Minneapolis is currently listed in the top 20 US cites for the highest rental rates. If you are OK paying top dollar for a rental then Minneapolis is great. If you are tired of paying top dollar for a small apartment with no storage and the inability to even paint you may want to start looking into what purchasing a home would look like for you.
Interest rates are wonderful. Low and staying low for the last 6 years. Rates are only going to go up over time. The longer you wait the more expensive the housing market is going to get. But getting in now you can lock in the low rate and keep your payment low.
Then there are major tax breaks. Not the same as your break for your certificate of rent paid the breaks you can get for owning a home are bigger and better.
And finally, if you are like many you are concerned about all that money you will need up front for down-payment, inspections, appraisals and maintenance. You will be pleased to know there are some great programs out there right now for down payment assistance and FHA financing. You can get into a home now for as little as 3% down! If you are interested in learning more about assistance and what buying a home on 2016 would realistically look for you give me a call! I would love to put you in touch with a great lender than can get you on track to buying in 2016!
