Tips To Keep Your House Cool When The Summer Weather Gets Hot

We all know how miserable it can be in the summer when the humidity rises, and the temperatures soars.  I've got some great tips for you to keep the costs down, along with the temperature.
Shade your windows, especially the east and west facing ones!  Logically enough, if you keep the sun out, the temps will stay cooler.
Run your dishwasher at night, it produces heat, which will in turn heat your home.
Keep the house closed during the day when outdoor temps are hottest.  Ventilate the house at night when cool air is present.
Use ceiling fans to circulate air.  Moving the air about will create the effect of cooler air.
Upgrade your air-conditioner unit.  A newer unit will be more efficient at cooling, which will save you money in the long-run.
Insulate any HVAC duct work that runs through unfinished areas of the house (attics, unfinished basements, and crawl spaces).
Clean your existing air conditioner.  A clean unit runs more efficiently.
Install white window shades or mini-blinds.  They block the sun, and will keep your home cooler.
Change the air filter in your furnace!  Your HVAC system runs much more efficiently when it can breathe properly.
Hopefully these tips help you to keep your home cool this summer.
